📢 AD's Corner: Season 2, Episode 1 — The Fall Kick-Off! Welcome Back, Viking Nation! Welcome back, everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic summer. The energy is back, the campus is buzzing, and we are officially launching Season 2, Episode 1 of the AD’s Corner! Before a single scoreboard turns on this fall, I have to give a massive shout-out to our incredible coaches and student-athletes for the relentless work they put in during the off-season. Summer is where championships are built, and our Vikings definitely did not take a vacation from the grind! 🏋️ Off-Season Grind & Summer Highlights 🏀 Basketball Camps & Summer League Summer basketball was a huge success! We had the privilege of welcoming Jaxon Autry, Head Coach at Lamar Community College, for an elite 2-day camp that saw 30 of our Viking student-athletes show up and put in work. Both our Boys and Girls teams competed in multiple camps and summer tournaments throughout the Valley, and our Lady Vikings had a wonderful turnout at our annual team camp! 🏋️‍♂️ Weight Room & Open Gyms The weight room was packed all summer with students coming in consistently to get their reps in and build that Viking strength. Throughout July, the dedication continued across all programs: * Volleyball: Fantastic open gym turnouts for both Middle School and High School. * Wrestling: Great work during open mat sessions. * Cross Country & Track: Strong showing during summer open runs. * Football: Outstanding participation as the guys prepared for a big transition year. To say I am excited for the start of the new school year and athletic season is an understatement. We have big expectations for our teams, and I know without a doubt they will deliver! 🏈 🏐 Fall Sports: The Action Begins! Transitions are part of athletics—we welcomed some phenomenal new coaches to our staff and had to say goodbye to others. Change is never easy, but it is sometimes necessary for the long-term betterment and growth of our programs. I want to personally extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Coach Jones for his many years of dedicated service to Center School and Athletics. Coach, your commitment to our athletes, our school, and our community over the years has left a lasting impact. We truly wish you nothing but the absolute best in your next chapter! 🏈 Football: A New Era in 8-Man Football practice officially starts August 3rd! Dropping down to 8-man football brings a whole new level of excitement, led by our new Head Coach, Coach Z! Expectations are sky-high, but Coach Z and his staff are more than up for the task. * First Game (Away): Saturday, August 29 @ Monument Academy (Colorado Springs) – 1:00 PM * First Home Game: Friday, September 4 vs. South Park – 7:00 PM (Let's pack the stands under the Friday Night Lights!) 🏐 Volleyball: Making History Coach Lambert and her Lady Viking Volleyball team are geared up for another fierce run at regionals! Mark your calendars for August 29th, when we will be hosting our first-ever 8-team Volleyball Tournament, welcoming teams from all over the state to Center! 🏃 Cross Country: Building Momentum Cross Country is gearing up for another stellar season under Head Coach Alexis Varela! We’ve been exploring the possibility of hosting our own meet; we'll let you all know if and when we are able to get it going. We will be starting middle school sports with interest meetings for the kids around the middle of the week next week. I will have schedules for all fall sports out soon! I have 90% of high school confirmed, and middle school schedules will be made after the first SPL meeting next week! I will get info out to you all as soon as I am able to. > ⚠️ Coaching Opportunity: We are still actively searching for Middle School Football Coaches. If you or someone you know is interested in shaping our young athletes, please shoot me an email! > I'm also looking for members of the community to serve on the chain gang for all home football games. It comes with some pretty cool perks, including getting paid! 🤝 Welcoming New Leadership Please join me in extending a warm Viking welcome to our new Superintendent, Mr. Dutton, and his family as they join us from Nebraska! His son, Isaac, is a sophomore this year, and we are thrilled to see what he brings to the field this fall. Hello Parents and Athletes, We wanted to let you know that we will be holding a Parent/Athlete Cheerleading Meeting on August 3rd at 6:00 PM in the Community Room. During the meeting, we will go over the cheerleading contracts, team rules and expectations, and upcoming fundraising opportunities. We ask that all parents/guardians attend the meeting with their athlete, as there will be important information that we will need to review together. If you are unable to attend on August 3rd at 6:00 PM, please reach out to either Stephanie or me so we can arrange an alternative time to meet.
